medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From: Terri Morgan <[log in to unmask]>
> The Abbots of Cluny (Berno, Odo, Mayeul, Odilo, Hugh, Aymardus, and Peter
the Venerable) Today is the corporate feast day of all the great and saintly
early abbots of Cluny.
does anyone happen to know when and by what mechanism such a "corporate feast
day" was instituted (presumably by Cluny itself?)?
happy "coincidences" of saintly figures have appeared frequently in this
posting, over the last few decades, but this particular one seems to be
somewhat exceptional in its formal institution.
is there, for instance, a similar "corporate feast day" for the early abbots
of Citeaux --or any other prominent institution?
