When I visited the Duke Energy nuclear power station on Lake Keowee, South Carolina, some years ago, I remember being surprised by people fishing in the cooling ponds and by Mary K, the Queen of cosmetics and pink cars, owning a large property near by.
The nuclear power station is part of a very interesting complex of hydro generators and lakes. Part of the power from the nuclear plant is used to pump the water back up hill so that the system is more efficient.
I own a small number of shares in dynamic Australian energy related companies. One is at the leading edge of processing nuclear materials, some of their processes are using in refining uranium; one is involved with solar energy design; and the last is involved with radical coal technologies.
So, I think I find myself in many backyards.
