acquisitions
Hi Wendy,
From my point of view the recommendations are a little ambitious. For
information, our current performance (09/10) in these areas is as
follows:
Talking Books:
Acquisitions per 1000 population - 6.5
% of annual additions to stock - 2.75%
% of overall stock - 6%
% of overall annual issues - 3.5%
Large Print:
Acquisitions per 1000 population - 11
% of annual additions to stock - 4.75%
% of overall stock - 3%
% of overall annual issues - 5%
Whilst there is scope for some additional investment in these two types
of stock, it's highly unlikely that we'd be able to achieve the
recommended figures within current budgetary constraints.
Regards,
Richard.

RNIB is putting together some good practice recommendations for public
libraries purchasing of large print and audio. Based on the evidence of
best practice we have, RNIB is recommending that public libraries
purchase:
10 hard copy audio titles per 1000 resident population per annum 20
large print titles per 1000 resident population per annum I would be
grateful for any feedback on how helpful and realistic these guidelines
are.
Many thanks
Wendy
