Dear all
Here in Copenhagen this has been a posibility for 3 years- first at the National Archive and since 2008 also at the Royal Library both at the Manuscript Dept and the Dept for Maps and Pictures.
We don't charge people but ask them to fill a form and the pictures are only for personal use.
The onlys problem seems to be people who wants more-
1. People come back to take better pictures or they want to place the items in special places
2. the other day a user wanted to use his own flatbed scanner in the reading room.
This has been denied- so only cameras with no flash, no tripod, no noise.

Anne,
Interesting that you are not charging we have been allowing this for
some time, but we do charge people.
We have recently updated our guidelines for use of reader's cameras and
the new ones can be found by following the link towards the bottom of
the following webpage: http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.php?id=readers
