Thanks Catalin, and others.
Please also note that I did say that I had been looking at Fricke’s work, so no need to send suggestions of Baraka/Koyaanisqatsi (on or offlist – I have been deluged).
As I say, I am keen to get suggestions of feature films – fiction or other non-fiction – rather than scientific shorts or gallery works.
All best
Damian

Hi Damian,
It's interesting in how many different contexts and to what thematic purpose time-lapse can be used:
Slapstick/characterisation/motif: A Clockwork Orange (sex scene)
Disorientation/conformity/balance: Koyaanisqatsi (clouds, crowds, traffic)
Enhance/exaggerate performance: Many Spaghetti Westerns use it in shooting (drawing gun) and fighting scenes
Self-referential: Paranormal Activity (CCTV footage being rewound/fast-forwarded)

Subject: [FILM-PHILOSOPHY] Time-lapse in feature films
Dear all,
Can anyone point to good examples of time-lapse photography (as opposed to bullet-time or slow-mo) used in feature films. I have A Zed and Two Noughts and Wonderland already. Are the British the only feature-makers using this?
I am putting together a small survey of time-lapse photography in gallery installation and as a scientific method (looking at the influence of John Ott, Jerry Payne etc.), and looking at Fricke, Viola etc., but don’t want to leave out its role in feature filmmaking.
Any helpful suggestions may be cited!
Kind regards
Damian
