Dear George,
The image depicts two separately presented events in Jacopo da Varazze's discussion of (this supposed) Felix of Rome: his causing an idol to fall and his being stabbed to death by his students (Jacopo calls him an overly strict schoolmaster) at the behest of pagans once he had confessed Christianity.
