medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

That URL, unfortunately, is no longer valid (the site hosting this image has migrated to a new server, with a consequent change of address). This one works:

To compensate for any disappointment in failing to reach that image on the first try, herewith two further images of T. (to go with the others in the original post):
a) T. as depicted in the frescoes of ca. 1200 in the church of the Panagia (a.k.a. Episkopi church) in Stavri (Lakonia prefecture) on Greece's Mani peninsula:

b) T. as depicted in a later thirteenth- or early fourteenth-century fresco in the church of the Peribleptos (now sv. Kliment) in Ohrid:

Though these images' legends in the database hosting them identify their subject as Theodore, one can see OKOI (i.e. part of O KOINOBIARCHOS) in the paintings' own legend. I suppose that they were mistaken for portraits of Theodore the Stoudite (who, though also routinely depicted with a cleft beard, is usually shown much more richly dressed).
Best,
John Dillon
