Dear Ida,
I am using Moodle for a couple of years as the base for L1 writing courses. I am not sure about how much of this might be transferred to L2 learning. I went through a number of disappointing experiences before I found out what works and what not. Our writing courses go over two semesters and include the use of a portfolio in which students have to upload all their texts in several versions. They then can use the portfolio for feedback. In my experience, students like the portfolio but have problems with feedback. It takes them half a year before they fully make use of it. That's why we make them give feedback in a face-to-face situation first. When they work on a small-group assignment later in which cooperation is necessary, they actually start using the electronic feedback devices for their collaborative work.
If you are interested, I can tell you more about this or give you access to one of our moodles so you can check. I am on hollidays for another 10 days, though.
Best, Otto

Betreff: Using Moodle for courses in EAP?
Dear all,
I'm going to use Moodle in my spring courses in EAP (one in academic
writing and one in academic reading) for students of English as a
foreign/second language and would love to receive ideas and
suggestions for exercises, tasks, etc. in a blended learning context.
Thanking you in advance.
Best wishes and a Happy New Year to everybody,
Ida.
