I'm with you (much good though it may do both of us).
Much of what we describe as 'collaborative' research in which we draw on people's ideas for profit is simple exploitation. The fairest way to deal with this in a commercial context would be for the company doing the exploiting to give the exploited shares in the company.
Next time I get the chance, I'll propose it to our pig-flying department.
