He was involved with various mines in Shropshire and has Watson's Shaft at
Tankerville mine as a memorial. His involvement there was from about 1870 to
1884 and his Tankerville Great Consols Co Ltd included Bog and Pennerley
mines. He was also involved with East Roman Gravels and Batholes Mines at a
similar period. Finally Eddowes Salopian Journal 08-04-1885 notes that
Ladywell mine was let to Mr Watson of Yorkshire, I don't know if this was
Peter though I suspect not. I have no reference to him at Roman Gravels and
would appreciate what information you have.

Subject: [mining-history] Peter Watson
What do we know about Peter Watson?
My interest in him stems from his involvement at Devon Great Consols from
the
late 1870s until the start of the twentieth century. He was also a share
dealer
with offices at Austin Friars in London. Outside the Tamar Valley I
understand
he was also involved at Lead Hills, Roman Gravels and Great Laxey. Beyond
that
I know very little.
