medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Apologies for cross-posting!
Dear all,
I have just posted on my web site about a hundred new images from my
recent trip to Europe, finally topping 1000 photos (actually, 1069).
Most of this batch is from the Louvre. The images are scattered through
the archive, but there are concentrations among reliquaries and ivories,
and in various media from the thirteenth to seventeenth centuries. To go
directly to those sections, the addresses are:

A few of my favorite items are
a 15th-16th c. Deposition from Santiago in jet:

a 13th c. buckle with battling knights (Budapest):

a Virgin and Child by Lorenzo Monaco c.1400 in gilded and engraved
glass: http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/images/Monaco1.jpg
and a 5th-6th c. pilaster capital with prepared throne and angels:

Genevra
