I found my copy of the PSYCHO novel by Robert Bloch. Chapter Fifteen describes the photo that leaps out at Lila examining Norman's library in his 'singularly small, singularly cramped' bedroom as being 'almost pathologically pornographic'. (Among Norman's other volumes is a translation of Huysmans's 'La Bas' and one of Sade's 'Justine'.) The film literalises all of this, but omits - for obvious reasons - showing the contents of the bound volume that we see Lila open.
