For your contemplation:
Political thrillers typically feature many changes of locale, often on a global scale, shifting from Washington, D.C. to Moscow, to Bangkok etc. on the jiffy. Yet at the same time, it could be said that specificity of place, local colour beyond the stereotypical high-end, tourist-guide locations (for the upper class or rich) is missing or downplayed - and accommodations usually seem pretty much similar in a sort of CNN one-world hotels kind of way. So my question is: why bother with the change of scenery in the first place?
Any ideas?
