The School of Health & Social Care, with over 9000 students, has now been deemed as excellent in learning and teaching on all subject areas through 6 academic reviews over the past 4 years. It is renowned for its successful partnership working with Health and Social Care Services. Its Research Portfolio continues to expand on several fronts, a position which is now enhanced with the establishment of the Health & Social Care Institute (HSCI)
(see http://www.tees.ac.uk/sections/research/health_socialcare/).
Teesside is also one of the main collaborators in the UKCRC funded Public Health Centre of Excellence known as Fuse: The Centre for Translational Research in Public Health. A major part of this role will be to develop the Teesside contribution to this endeavour through collaborative work with colleagues in other North East institutions and with policy and practice partners working to improve public health.
We are seeking to appoint a researcher with significant experience in the field of knowledge exchange in public health to develop and implement a strategy for a programme of research with particular emphasis on knowledge exchange as it relates to public health. You will work with the Fuse Knowledge Exchange Manager and Communications Officer based at Teesside, as well as with other research colleagues at Teesside and in the other NE universities. In addition, through networking with external agencies and organisations you will develop the knowledge exchange role with practice and policy partners. You will, of course, aim to enhance the profile of the School through research and consultancy and will contribute to teaching and research degree supervision.
Equipped with a PhD in an appropriate discipline you will have experience of postgraduate supervision and teaching and a strong interest in knowledge exchange issues in public health. A relevant teaching qualification, such as PgCE, or research interests in areas which match existing University interests would be advantageous.

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory CRB disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau is required as part of our clearance procedures.
This post is available on a full-time or job share basis. (If you wish to apply on a job share basis you must state this on your application). For an informal discussion about the role, please contact the Institute Director, Professor Janet Shucksmith on 01642 342750 or e-mail: [log in to unmask]
