Data Manager in Health Informatics
Salary Range: £31,500 - £39,130 per annum
All appointments will normally be made at the bottom of the salary range

This is an exciting and unique opportunity, funded for up to 3 years by UKCRC.  The post-holder will be based in the Centre for Infection Prevention and Management (www.imperial.ac.uk/cipm), a collaboration between Imperial College London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust(ICHT) and the Health Protection Agency (HPA).  

The purpose of the role is to support the on-going CIPM programme to develop and use infection surveillance schemes across the whole healthcare economy to improve management and prevention of infection. The post-holder will be responsible for a challenging programme of linking current and additional data-sets from across the Trust, liaising with different departments within ICHT and working closely with members of the Infection Prevention Team including clinical staff. S/he will assess the information and knowledge needs of service providers and further the novel uses of surveillance to enhance infection Management. The post-holder will carry out the analysis and interpretation of infection and risk surveillance data and will also work with equivalent personnel at the Health Protection Agency to conduct similar work on national level data.  The post-holder will continue to develop and optimise the CIPM surveillance database and for candidates with an interest and an appropriate background there will also be opportunities to contribute to publications and grant applications.  
Applicants should hold a first degree in a numerate discipline, a PhD or equivalent higher degree in an appropriate quantitative subject or equivalent experience would be desirable.  A background in health informatics is especially desirable.  Experience of advanced use of SQL for data extraction and creation of stored procedures is necessary. Expertise in database management including proven experience of analysing large, complex data sets is essential as is experience with the use of data mining and analysis tools. 
This is a full-time post for a fixed term of three years based at the Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith and Hammersmith Hospital, East Acton campuses.
Prior data management experience in epidemiological or clinical trial research, biobanks, or electronic health records (e.g. in primary care or hospital care) and expertise in multivariate statistical analyses is desirable.
