Dear all,
I thought this meeting may be of interest, especially Day Two which
includes discussions on faunal resources. All the best, Hannah
GRAVETIENSE CANTÁBRICO: ESTADO DE LA CUESTIÓN
Museo de Altamira (20 al 22 de octubre de 2011)
In recent years, the discovery of Gravettian levels and new dating for
art work have confirmed the hitherto little-known fact that this
culture was widely present in the Cantabrian Region.
Consequently, the time has come to determine the current reality of
this episode, to review its identifying traits from as many
perspectives as possible, and to trace its links to other regions in
the Iberian Peninsula and the Pyrenees. It is also important to
consider the characteristics and chronology of the transition from the
preceding Aurignacian period and into the subsequent Solutrean era.
The conference aims to bring the different work teams together in a
context where members can share news, contributions, issues and doubts
in a formal way during the scheduled sessions, and also enjoy an
enriching informal interaction outside the sessions over the course of
three intense days.
