This e-mail of Ted's really upsets me. How stupid, inefficient, arrogant
and callous of Manchester University to adopt such a policy. Are the
blessed with such a cornucopia of resources and funds that they can
ignore the vast well of expertise and talent that exists in their
retired professoriate? Should they not be keeping these persons involved
in a score of different activities that would represent a win-win-win
situation for the university, for the emeritus professors and for their
students.
