Hi Caroline,
I'm not sure about attitude research specifically but there is certainly
a literature out there on experimental design that you should consider -
it's not so much about recency vs primacy however, just search for
'counterbalancing' and/or 'order effects'. A latin square design is
often used to balance the order across subjects, and there are stats
methods you can use to assess whether there has been any carry-over
effect from one condition to another.
