I read this panel as three separate scenes, even though they overlap
compositionally and are of course related within the narrative. The
soldier with his hand on Jesus' shoulder is showing him the way forward
(such a thoughtful escort). Peter's left hand is broken, not holding
anything, and he is seated at the fire (brazier), accosted by the
servant girl. Likewise Judas and the Crucifixion are separate scenes,
though combined on one panel.
Personally, I find it hard to imagine programmatic rather than just
narrative intent within each panel but not within the group of panels
(box) as a whole.
