Hello Michael (and everyone),

I'm pleased to learn now, Michael, that you are registered for the event - and the system worked perfectly for you.

In fact, your message has now given us an opportunity to say a couple of things.

First, subscribers to the list will notice that we have now changed the reduced 'student' registration rate to 'student/unwaged'. We want to make this event (as with all MCG activity) as affordable and accessible as we can. So we hope that is reflected in this update to the pricing. Particularly at this time with personnel in the sector moving between and out of contracts, it's vital (we think) that our events make this acknowledgement and help where they can.

Second, yes, you're right Michael - we do now charge for our MCG meetings. At last year's AGM members passed our new constitution (which you can see online on the MCG website) that describes the new business model and model for membership for the group. We have moved away from the rather cumbersome 'annual payment' model, to something that is more flexible and helpful - in that you pay only for the events you attend. You can become a member for FREE at any time (so, a registered member of the group, rather than just a subscriber to the email list) and in doing so you qualify for a reduced rate for our events.

So, for instance, you will see, when you register for UKMW10 (http://ukmw10.eventbrite.com/) there is an option on the registration screen for you to say you would like to become a member. By ticking this box you will be able to qualify - there and then - for a reduced (members) rate to the conference.

I'm delighted that so many of you have registered for UKMW10 already within just the first 24hours of us opening the doors. We are very excited about this year's event and the important and timely discussions that we will be able to have.

We will update the list (or maybe you'll hear first if you follow us on Twitter - 'ukmcg') as and when more speakers and chairs are announced.

With regards,

Ross Parry

MCG Chair

Hi Ross

I have just gone to the Eventbrite web site to register and it is asking me for money or to send me an invoice.

Is there something I need to do for it not to ask me to pay?

Michael
