Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for any cross posting.
Vitae will be running its annual Vitae Connections event on Wednesday 10 November 2010 in Birmingham.
As we enter a new era of public funding, there is a need to address the strategic and practical implications around sustainable practice and collaboration to support researcher skills, and professional and career development. This includes achieving cost effective models of shared development and provision, and addressing the requirements of the ‘Concordat to Support the Careers Development of Researchers’ and the newly launched Researcher Development Framework.
To address these issues, Vitae Connections will create a new facilitated open space environment to enable you to discuss with other professionals the topics that are relevant to your institution along with optional sessions arranged for focused discussion. Vitae Connections will enable the exchange of valuable information for those experienced in using Vitae resources and those who are new to researcher development. Attendees will be invited to identify shared projects that can be developed further through Vitae Connections on-line.
Vitae offers a number of programmes and resources for free use by UK higher education institutions. These can be modified and adapted according to institutional requirements. A resource library will provide information about how to access resources and run these programmes.
Audience: Trainers and staff supporting researcher development
During the event participants will gain:
• information on high quality cost effective materials that are being used by a range of UK HEIs
• opportunities to explore collaborations
• access to other practitioners, creators of programmes and experts to share practice and consider sustainable models of delivery
• updates on the latest resource developments
• input into Vitae’s future strategy to provide cost-effective resources
A networking catalogue will be sent out to participants prior to the event to help you to prepare and to identify whom you would like to connect with on the day.
Bookings, dinner and accommodation
This event is free to attend. There will be an optional networking dinner on the 9 November and accommodation can be provided. Accommodation and places on the event are limited so please book your place as soon as possible.
