The international population studies professional association IUSSP
have confirmed that they will be taking up the issue of reduced data
collection, partly in response to the RadStats blog announced in the
email below.
Since the email was circulated last week, we have added items on the
American Community Survey and England's Tellus survey of children's
wellbeing.
If you have links to news of big or small cuts to statistics as a
result of recent economic policy, please send to
[log in to unmask] for addition to the list on the blog.
Feel free to circulate the announcement below or this whole email as
widely as you can.
Thanks, Ludi

Radical Statistics is pleased to announce the inception of its new
blog available at http://radstats.wordpress.com
It will begin with a theme on cuts in public statistics worldwide to
help monitor the impact of changing government priorities.
Recurrent economic crunches are reducing public expenditure. Public
statistics that support social development and democratic planning are
no exception. Contributors have already highlighted the reductions and
proposed reductions to the censuses of Canada, UK, USA and Spain. The
international professional demographers’ association has been asked to
respond to the threat to public services embodied in reduced
information for planning; its president Peter McDonald is considering
a response.
Please feel free to send submissions, to comment, or to pass this
along to any of your contacts or other interested parties.
To submit an item, send a very short summary, with links to at least
one news item or document, to [log in to unmask]
