medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From: John Dillon <[log in to unmask]>
> Today (18. September) is the feast day of:
> 2) Ferreolus of Vienne (d. 250 or 251, supposedly).
> 5) Ferreolus of Limoges (d. late 6th cent.; perh. after 591).
o.k., so, being severely Hagiographically Challenged, can someone explain to
me the mechanism by which two saints, sharing the same quite uncommon name,
from very geographically diverse places, separated by several centuries just
*happen* to be celebrated on the same day?
