Hi Danny,
I see no reason why you shouldn't do that. Other cultural institutions have been doing that kind of thing - and you'll need to set up an account (if you don't have one already) to set up a Group.
You could ask gallery workers to use specific individual tags to identify what each has uploaded (I always want to know who's done what in case there's something that needs correcting (problem with image quality or spelling of a description etc).
