I've now had a chance to look at the original 1841 census returns for
Shipham and Rowberrow, and it looks as if the word "calaminery" is a
transcription error in the document we saw. I think the entry actually
reads "Miner Lapis Calaminaris" which was a term in use at the time, and
would make sense as the local lead miners are all listed as "Miner Lead
Ore". I've put a photograph of the suspect words up on our Flickr page

For the record, the number of miners in 1841 were:-
Rowberrow: Calamine: 24; Iron: 1; Lead: 18
Shipham: Calamine: 22; Lead: 23
