If you search google books for "Taufgelöbnis" you find literature
explaining old medieval usages.
The term of art is Abrenuntiatio diaboli (no classical Latin). See,
e.g., J. Kirsten: Abrenuntiatio diaboli. Eine Untersuchung zur
Bedeutungsgeschichte des altkirchlichen Taufritus. Diss. Heidelberg
1952.
