Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for cross-posting.
Please consider submitting an abstract to session T14 'Exploring the Temporal and Spatial Variability in Fault Slip Rates' (deadline 2nd September). Invited speakers include Yann Klinger, Eric Cowgill and Colin Amos.
If you work in active tectonic settings, are interested in fault slip rate variability and utilise GPS, InSAR, surface dating techniques and/or modelling then this session is for you. We hope for a dynamic session with much discussion - please join in!
Session outline: Examination of data from a variety of active fault settings often define a discrepancy between slip rates derived from geodetic and geologic studies. Do these differences reflect secular variation in fault slip? Can these discrepancies be explained by spatial and/or temporal variation due to fault interaction? Or are the results highlighting an inherent problem in how data is acquired and modeled? We invite contributions from studies that constrain fault slip rates over various spatial and temporal scales using GPS, InSAR, cosmogenic exposure dating or geochronology and which attempt to resolve apparent discrepancies between methods. Contributions that present modeling of the earthquake cycle are strongly encouraged
