Diabetes Integrated Care Initiative in East Cambs and Fenland
Social Scientist, qualitative researcher
Band 6, £25,472 - £34,189
Fixed Term for 18 months
Ref: 100398
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed researcher to work within the Addenbrooke's Hospital diabetes service and Cambridge University Department of Public Health and General Practice on the Diabetes Integrated Care Initiative based in East Cambs and Fenland.
The key tasks for this position will be to develop a detailed understanding using interviews and observation of people in and around the Fenland region of England who in the past have had poor control of their diabetes. You will be responsible for analysing and providing interpretation of results, report writing and assisting with academic outputs.
Holding a good first degree in a social science such as sociology or anthropology, or another relevant qualification, you will have experience in qualitative research in a health-related area.
It is essential that you are able to travel independently due to the inaccessibility of many regions in the Fenland and the unavailability of Public Transport.
You'll get training and development in this friendly and dynamic organisation which seeks to innovate and strives for excellence in delivering first-class patient care. You'll also benefit from childcare facilities, flexible working and a final salary pension scheme. Cambridge is a great place to live with good schools, lots of housing developments, new shopping, sports and leisure facilities ... and it's only 45 minutes away from London.
For an informal discussion please contact Dr Simon Cohn, Medical Anthropologist, Dept of Public Health, Cambridge University on 01223 338330 or email [log in to unmask]
Closing Date: 11th August 2010
Interview Date: 3rd September 2010
