Middle Low German Word Index online, at http://research.ncl.ac.uk/
medingen/library/Word%20Index.pdf
The searchable pdf-version of the Wörterverzeichnis for a Middle Low
German prayer-book by Mante* might be interesting to colleagues for
two reasons:
§ as the first available sample of Middle Low German words with
English equivalents
§ as example for how to make good use of the Erasmus option of
having students on work placements. It was compiled and translated by
Maria Kurth (Erasmus Student Placement from Rostock University) who
worked for 5 months as a “Erasmus-Praktikantin” for the Medingen
Project at the School of Modern Languages, Newcastle University.
These work placements are available over and above the Erasmus quota
for exchange students; they require a signed training agreement with
the sending University but are open to a number of uses, from
conversation classes to scholarly projects. If you are interested in
a full report on the placement by the student, have a look at the
Praktikumsbericht on our German Studies @ Newcastle website (http://
ncl.ac.uk/sml/german).
At the moment, the word index is only available as searchable pdf-
file but will be converted in a structured database over the summer.
Please report any errors to me.
All the best, Henrike Lähnemann.

XIV. Jahrhunderts (Bistumsarchiv Trier, Nr. 528), Lund 1960 (Lunder

English equivalents to Laura Ball, B.A. Oxon (MLitt student at
Newcastle University). The prayer-book is in fact from the 15th, not
the 14th century and originates from the Cistercian convent of
Medingen (near Lüneburg).
