Hi All
Diane (& Diane), I can understand your fears, because we don't want that
to be only message that we give our students (i.e. don't cheat, 'cos
you'll get caught). To be fair to the video, though:
1. It does have a second message - if you take the trouble to use
resources and cite properly, you will have a better chance to produce
top-notch assignments, and will go on to greater things. (Although, I'm
not sure that writing a GUI in Visual Basic qualifies as greater things
:-).
2. The video is used as a starter, a seeder, if you like. It gets
the students' attention, and, from there, points them to the web site
http://sokogskriv.no/ (English: http://sokogskriv.no/english/) which
takes the students further.
Of course, the issue after that is to teach them that "GUI Interface" is
tautology, given that GUI means "Graphical User Interface"). As a
bonus, it might get some of them to ask "Who the heck is Charles
Dickens?" (Shakespeare will have to wait for next semester :-)
Regards
Ken
