Call for Papers: Theoretical Approaches for HCI, to be held at USAB 2010:
HCI in Work & Learning, Life & Leisure 4-5 November, 2010, Carinthia,
Austria. <http://usab-symposium.uni-klu.ac.at/>
Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit papers for a Special Thematic
Session on Theoretical Approaches for HCI, which will be held in the
upcoming USAB 2010 conference. HCI in Work & Learning, Life & Leisure
4-5 November, 2010, Carinthia, Austria.
The recently added Special Thematic Sessions on Theoretical Approaches
for HCI invites researchers to discuss their novel ideas and
theoretical analysis that can give a new perspective on HCI. Full
Papers are expected to make a contribution to theoretical analysis of
HCI. The paper length is a maximum of 16 pages in Springer Format.
Short Papers (Posters) are expected to describe and discuss a novel
idea on basis of Theory of HCI. The paper length should be maximum of
8 pages in Springer Format.
Accepted papers will be presented in the conference program and
published in the LNCS proceedings.
We are looking forward to meet you at the USAB 2010 Conference.
Best regards,
T-HCI Organizing Committee
Theoretical Approaches for HCI
The special thematic session addresses research on the novel ideas and
emerging issues from theoretical research of/for HCI. The main aim of
the session is to exchange knowledge and insights from the
cross-disciplinary field of HCI research and other related research
areas.
Researching and creating interactions between people and computers has
long been the core idea of Human-Computer Interaction. The researchers
of the Human Computer Interaction community apply diverse methods and
theories from different disciplines in order to design, evaluate and
implement interactive computing systems. As the interactive computing
systems becoming pervasive and ubiquitous and therefore more humane
and societal day by day, researchers are needing to broaden their
theoretical orientations to HCI research. For example, in order to see
a broader picture of the needs of human kind, it is necessary to
discuss controversial, political, social and other perspectives that
are relevant to the integration of technologies into everyday life.
This track is open to any work that draws a bigger picture of related
issues to the future work of HCI. The researchers from diverse
communities including not only informatics and interaction design,
also psychology, cognitive science, social sciences, humanities,
marketing and so on are invited to discuss their „grounded“ ideas on
theories of/for HCI which can give new perspectives to the
understanding of HCI research.
Topics include (but are not limited to):
* Theories and disciplinary basics that can impact HCI Research
(from relevant disciplines like psychology/ literature /theater/
media& communication /anthropology sociology /marketing, etc)
* Theoretical Analysis and Trends in HCI Research (e.g: values
/emotions/ motivations /trust/embodiment...)
* Criticisms on HCI
* Ethical Aspects of HCI
* Politics & Societal Impacts & HCI
* Cultural Practices, Gender & HCI
* Methodological Opportunities & Potentials
* Media Analysis & HCI
* Philosophy of HCI
* Consumer Research & HCI
* Comparative Analysis of HCI and Relevant Disciplines
