Andy,
Just to clarify... it sounds like the new meeting is intended to have a wider focus than just Shibboleth? If so, then the naming might want to reflect that by using 'SAML' or 'Fed(eration)' rather than 'Shib'. (From my perspective, I'm obviously sensitive about such things ;-) ).
How about
FedForum
FedCamp
FedFlock
FedF2F
SAMLCamp
SAMLchat
SAMLbabble
FederationCongragation
If the focus is intended to be just Shib then I'd suggest
ShibCamp
or
ShibShape
(Right... that's my lunchtime wasted!:-) )

Hi
Many of you may have seen me plugging McShib over last couple of years. McShib in the tradition of great Scottish gatherings gets together all of us from the lowlands and the highlands (and even sometimes the Islands) so that we can natter to our hearts content about all things Federation (we really do need to get out more, but what with the snow and then the ash....). Speaking personally I've found our meetings really really helpful, made many great friends and contacts and learnt a lot of terrifically useful things about how to do this Shibboleth stuff.
We've even had a few make some quite epic journeys to join in from over the border and people have said "I wish we had something like this down our way". Well, now's you chance!!
In the hope that another "local" shibboleth/federation forum will be formed we would like to invite you to a meeting to be held in Manchester (venue TBA) on Thursday 1st July with a similar agenda to the last McShib:
There will presentations from
Nicole Harris (JISC), Rhys Smith (Cardiff and JANET), Rod Widdowson (Edina/sdss), and myself;
on such topics as
the publisher interface study, RAPTOR, Moonshot, the upgrade process to Shibboleth 2, How to use the Service Provider to protect local web services and much more. As well as the formal presentations we always factor in time for open discussion so it's a great way to mix with other "federators".
What's it to be called? Well that's up to you!! Come along, its your meeting, make it what you want.
This is just a "heads up" that this is afoot, there will hopefully be some more details in just a few days along with links to an online booking form, so keep the 1st July free!
Cheers
Andy Swiffin
