HI all
re...
In western cultures that seek to characterise those experiencing
marginalisation as somewhat less deserving of consideration, respect and
full equality it would make for interesting reading to ask these same
students to write another reflective piece in 12 months time.
Great idea. I'll give it a go.

I have thought a lot about this point and have veered between adopting the
the 'any improvement is better than nothing' position versus 'the master's
tools will not dismantle the master's house' point of view often during this
teaching semester. Much has depending on how optimistic I have felt about
facing the upshot of interrogating some of the strongly-held views
represented on each side of this particular fence! The key I think is to
unpack 'disability/impairment' alongside 'ability' in course material and
work far more openly within this binary, at least try to do this a bit more
coherently in 2011.
