Am reading E.P. Thompson on Ruskin at the moment. 'True value [Ruskin] declared, could not be expressed by capitalist laws of supply and demand: " to be 'valuable'...is to 'avail towards life'. A truly valuable...thing is that which leads to life with its whole strength".
