WEDNESDAY 16 JUNE
Samuel Sebastian Wesley Study Day - Royal College of Music, Prince Consort Road, London, SW7 2BS
Could a 19th century cathedral organist and church composer be a paid-up member of the Romantic movement? Born in the same year as Chopin and Schumann, Samuel Sebastian Wesley imbibed the early Romantic idiom of London’s concert halls and theatres, reproducing it in his songs and piano music and boldly transferring it to the cathedrals in which he worked. Join us to learn more about his eventful career and to experience his inspiring music.
Free but tickets required (tickets are not required for the concert of choral music)
