That's a typical British WW II subgenre, epitomized by Alistair MacLean adaptations: The Guns of Navarone (1961), Where Eagles Dare (1968), Force 10 from Navarone (1978), etc.
The Bridge on the River Kwai (Lean, 1957) preceded that.
And, arguably, Star Wars also fits the (mythic) pattern ...

Good morning. I am searching for a list of war films that depict a small band of good guys charged with knocking out an enemy installation, assassinating an evil enemy or any other heroic quest. Just looking for a few.
