I have to agree with Janice. I have and will continue to give my SOPs
to anyone who asks for them. In the case of the UK and Canada one
could certainly argue that the government pays for the work writing
the SOP and not to share them with colleagues in your own country is
wasting government money as each hospital is wasting time and money
reinventing the wheel. Sharing information across the globe is
similarly cheaper for everyone. Helping each other is the cheapest way
to do things for everyone.
Obviously, it is always cheapest to accept information but not to
share it. But if everyone does that, it is the most expensive for
everyone. This therefore should be discouraged.
So by Janice, and others, sharing information for free, we are
pushing people to share more and more of their information for free
thus making everything cheaper for everyone. This should be encouraged
as it is best for everyone.
This is the only way to make our lives have less futile work and is
the type of training I had many years ago in Ireland and the UK. Once
upon a time we acted like colleagues and not competitors and it is a
cheaper, better system to one where everything is a commodity and must
be sold
