This day will mark the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution with a
programme that includes a mixture of poetry, film and academic discussion
and presentations. Two Cuban specialists and a poet from New York will
explore themes of space, imaginary landscapes, and cultural identity, and
will debate issues concerning the politics of translation.
*Dr Guy Baron*: Lecturer in Spanish at Aberystwyth University.
*Dr Omar García-Obregón*: Reader in Poetics of Exile, Censorship and
Cultural Resistance at Queen Mary University of London.
*Mark Weiss*: Poet, translator, publisher and editor from New York. His
teaching experience includes Columbia University.
