While Mark Edwards is undoubtedly technically correct in his observation
regarding the appropriateness of airing thoughts on Greek social unrest
in the hallowed spaces of the PhD design list, some of us might think
that it is this inveterate capacity of design and design research to
bury its hand in the sand whenever an issue of real human or political
concern arises which renders the field so intellectually and
socially—and judging from his last, snide and altogether unnecessary
comment, ethically bankrupt.

Whilst this is clearly an alarming situation and one that's close to
your hearts, I'm not sure that a PhD and design research discussion
forum is the most appropriate place to air your thoughts on Greek social
unrest and the state of the world economy. I am, however, reliably
informed that soap boxes are still available at Hyde Park corner on a
first-come first-served basis.
