Many thanks to everyone who responded to my query about the RNIB Talking Book Service regarding issues with demands to collect Daisy players from non-users holding up new subscribers. A summary of responses is below:
• Reduced number taking service, most referrals via social workers or occasionally through libraries. Not asking users for proportion of fee. Said to RNIB cannot continue to subscribe if collection of player demands are made. (Brighton +Hove)
• Use RNIB volunteers support to manage non-use and returns. RNIB contact for volunteers - [log in to unmask] (Essex)
• Kent operate own postal audio service, and have recently taken on Medway’s clients. May expand is successful.
