I'm a bit fanatical about this. I foolishly think the purpose of government is to make our lives better, more just and equal. Like Socrates I think knowledge leads to virtue.
So I am really pleased three very important initiatives that are able to bring things together to create real change for the sake of the commonwealth - getting together a comprehensive understanding of inequality, understanding the power of mapping, and this being on the government's agenda with the Equality Act and Equality Impact Assessments.
I want to see common standards of statistics and presentation across Britain so that excellent decisions can be made by we the people
We are not there with local councils playing with joint strategic needs assessments and paying lip service to equality.
How can we make it so?
