Hello,
Research into design process and design management has progressed at
different speeds in design subfields. This offers the opportunity to
arbitrage between them (i.e. borrow bits to bring other areas of design to
the same point). I’ve found it very useful. The field of concurrent
engineering design seems to be some years ahead in this kind of thinking
compared of design subfields in Art and Design and business/organisational
design. Below is the current table of contents of the Concurrent Engineering
journal. Some of the issues being addressed in CE are 1 to 2 generations
ahead timewise which offers opportunities to bring areas of theory forward
and points to opportunities for new Design PhDs.
Best wishes,
Terry
