Schools & Young Audiences Web Editor
Fixed term - 6 months; Part time - 3 days per week
£25,956 p/a (pro rata)
The British Museum is looking to recruit a Schools & Young Audiences Web Editor to provide online learning content, information and services to meet the needs of schools and young people, teachers and families. Responsibilities will include ensuring that the Museum's website best meets the needs of the schools and young audiences in terms of its functionality, information and content. Working with the Web team and Marketing departments you will also be responsible for ensuring that the website fully supports and promotes the work of schools and young audiences via communications such as e-newsletters. The main focus of work in this period will be the creation of new content for the children's section of the website in collaboration with other members of the Schools & Young Audiences Team. You may also be required to collaborate on evaluating current and future online projects relating to young audiences.
With a degree or equivalent the ideal candidate will have experience of working in a web environment and will possess excellent writing and editing online skills. Experience of using a Content Management System is essential, as is an understanding of what children need and expect from websites. The ability to prioritise your workload whilst supporting and managing colleagues in meeting deadlines is an essential requirement for this post as is the ability to negotiate conflicting organisational and external needs. High levels of written and verbal skills are essential as is experience of writing for teachers and for children.
