University of Oxford Global Health Summer School: 5th-9th July 2010
We have great pleasure in announcing the 2nd University of Oxford Global Health Summer School. Last year was a great success and once again we are inviting participants from around the globe and from a wide range of different professions to take part in interactive workshops, lectures and discussions followed by plenaries with key leaders in the field.
The Summer School is a five-day residential event held at Jesus College, Oxford and is jointly run by the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education and the Department of Public Health. It is designed to introduce participants to topics central to current global health research and to provide an understanding of the principles, methods and practice of global health.
Themes include:
• Research Methods: Introduction to Epidemiological Studies, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis
• Designing and Evaluating Public Health Programmes
• Ethics for Global Health.
Quotes from last year:
"All the lecturers were very knowledgeable and experienced and this came over in their presentations."
"I learned almost as much from the participants as from the lectures! I really enjoyed the ethical debates and discussions."
"The group of students was very diverse and this made all interactions both in class and socially so interesting."
