Hi,
We have a number of students who are studying the L2 NVQ in Mechanical
Engineering Plumbing (6089/02), who have already completed their L2
Technical Certificate in Plumbing (6129/22) either with us, or elsewhere.
They are now signed to the college as an apprentice, and I'm told they
therefore require the 401 unit (employee rights and responsibilities) from the
6129-22 in order for their full apprenticeship framework (CITB / Work Based
Learning) to be claimed.
As they have completed the 6129-22, the registration has closed down,
therefore they are unable to sit the unit with us without re-opening the
6129/22, and incurring a full registration fee.
I have already asked City and Guilds over the phone how to get around this
problem (if there are unit only routes available as I have found with some Hair
and Beauty qualifications), and they have told me verbally that re-opening the
registration at full cost is the only option, but it seems a little extortionate to
have to pay the full registration fee simply to access this non-mandatory unit
of 6129/22, which is required for 6089/02 full framework.
If there is no way around re-opening the registration, I'm hoping that we can
at least avoid the 6129-26 gola fee by getting the students to complete the
paper based versions still available.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
Amy
