Hi all, hasn't this stirred up a hornets nest.
Food for thought, Should you give your BTEC Tutors Basic access to
interchange they will be able to call up the course they are running,
print off a confirmation report, add the grade against the units they
wish to enter and submit them to you in the exams office, Please note
that the confirmation report will list the units in the order that they
appear on interchange (no units all over the place). I'm not sure if
EDEXCEL will except them by post but if you enter them your self it is
much easier than having SRFS. You of course then have a copy to refer to
should you have errors.
For those of you that have access to PDF writer programs, your tutors
can save the confirmation reports edit them and forward direct to your
e-mail.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

We use paper based SRFs as the majority of our students do BTECs. I have
looked at trying to do them via EDI but it seems a very complicated
system to set up so I have stayed with paper based. I will not give
staff access to enter their grades as they make enough mistakes on the
paper based one.
I too find the Art & Design ones a nightmare as they are about 5/6 pages
each. I understand that if you import the base data when you register
your candidates you can then select their units then EDI them in. This
will then produce a much shorter SRF as it only lists the units you
registered them for. The problem I have is the staff are forever
changing units so its safer to register for the full award and stick
with the long SRFs !!

Art and Design SRFs are the worst, as they contain every unit for every
route (fine art, graphic design, photography etc). Surely Edexcel should
only include those listed in the spec for that route (as you register on
a specific route) and any you may have added as meeting local needs
units?
I imagine Edexcel want to make SRFs as difficult as possible to persuade
us to use other methods
We have 204 BTEC progs with a total of 4078 B registrations made this
yr..........
