Dear All
PLoS Medicine published, 2 days ago, an interesting variation on the
theme of Evidence Based Medicine. Written by GAVI employees, it
investigates factors that result in delay in adoption of the Hib
vaccine in some countries.
The model is interesting because it looks to see whether local
studies on the disease are available but excludes the evidence that
was gathered in such local studies. The reasoning stated is that the
data itself is unimportant, because it is not understood by decision
makers! This is a novel use of EBM.
