1. Expert for Science Policy Studies Job 84/09
The Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (MPS) is a self-
governing science organization funded by the federal and state governments.
In its 80 institutes and re-search units in Germany and abroad the Max Planck
Society performs basic research in the natural and social sciences. The Staff
Unit for Research Analysis and Foresight in the Department of Research Policy
and International Relations is seeking to fill the following position at the
earliest possible date.
Your tasks
Your task is to observe, evaluate and compare at an early stage the thematic
and structural transformation processes in the international science system
and to prepare reports. In particular, your job is to track changes across the
spectrum of science disciplines, overlapping developments in the production of
knowledge itself (e.g., integrity and sharing of data, open science and global
networks), best practices in instruments and structures that promote
creativity, the development of future questions concerning scientific,
technical and social issues and new trends in the interplay in science, politics
and society.

Your tasks
Your job is to coordinate the structural and content-related development of
the maxNet community portal by working closely with the maxNet team and
members of the com-munity. Work in the first phase also involves introducing

provide support for its users, moderate the entries in the forums and write
your own contributions.
