Speaker and Session Details
Barry Coates is an Access Technology Trainer working for an internal IT support team in RNIB. His presentation will cover the different forms of Access Technology used specifically by blind and partially sighted computer users.
Kirsty Wayland is Disability Development Consultant at the Disability Resource Centre at the University of Cambridge where her role includes delivering staff development on all elements of disability and access for disabled people. The session 'Making your library accessible to disabled people' will focus on practical steps you can take to ensure that all library users feel welcome and are included.
Penny Whitehead, Equalities Development Librarian Hertfordshire Libraries, will provide an overview of the Hertfordshire approach to providing services for disabled people and focus particularly on recent work to support service delivery for people with learning difficulties. Part of the session will include an interactive exercise on communication skills.
Lynda Martin will talk about the history of Papworth Library and the library training programme for people with disabilities from the Papworth Trust Progression Programme and the challenges for the future.
