Greetings all,
I am looking for assistance from anyone who has experience working with camelid remains. I have a mystery bone that I sporadically found in my assemblage. I've uploaded an album to my page, labeled "unknown llama bone". The complete specimen shown -- in both photos -- is derived from a modern llama comparative. Could this specimen represent a vestigial or cranium-associated bone? Any ideas? I am a bit stumped.
Also relating to camelids, does anyone have a pdf copy or access to the following Argentinian conference pub?:
Menegaz, A., M. Salemme and E. Ortiz Jaurequizar
1988 Una propuesta de sistematización de los caracteres morfométrics de los meapodios y las falanges de Camelidae. In De Processos, contextos y otros huesos, edited by N. Ratto and A. Haber, pp. 53-64. UBA, ICA, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The publication has proved inaccessible by Interlibrary Loan in the States.
Cheers,
Matthew
